DOVER, Del. – Wesley College's men's basketball team made a season-high 11 shots from behind-the-arc to defeat York (Pa.), 70-56, on Sunday afternoon at Wentworth Gymnasium in the Capital Athletic Conference opener for both teams.  The Wolverines have now won a program-record five games to open the season while the Spartans now stand at 1-4.

James Livingston sunk five threes while Eric Selby made four to lead Wesley with 21 and 14 points, respectively. Livingston also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds while Selby was credited with a game-high five assists. Quincy Pettiford also scored in double figures with ten points along with seven rebounds.

After playing just six minutes in the first half after picking up two early fouls, David Langan made his presence known in the second half as the offense went through him. Langan finished with seven points, eight rebounds and five steals and two blocks.  Langan, who was immediately double and triple teamed in the post, was 3-of-4 from the floor and 1-of-2 from the line while recording three assists.

With just under 14 minutes left in the first half, York's Evan Crosby made a jumper to cut Wesley's lead to 13-12, but Selby made two straight treys and Anthony Bowers (eight points) added a jumper to extend the Wolverines lead to 21-12 with 9:18 left in the opening period.

The Spartans then got a pair of free throws from Mike Mathews before Bowers tallied another five quick points to help Wesley to another 7-0 run and double up on the Spartans, 28-14. The Wolverines led by as many as 18 points in the first 20 minutes as Selby sunk another three with 2:12 left in the half, upping the advantage to 38-20.

Up by 13 points at the half, Wesley allowed four quick points as York got to within nine with 19:08 remaining, but that was as close as the Spartans would get.

Ranked 26th in the National Poll entering this past week, the Wolverines return to action on December 4 when they travel to Marymount (Va.) for an 8 pm CAC tipoff.
