Jack Shanahan and Matt Feldman each scored 16 points to lead the men's basketball team to a 65-51 home conference victory over the rival Hawks of Hunter College on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The victory is the third straight for the Bearcats (4-1, 1-0 CUNYAC), while the Hawks (2-3, 0-1 CUNYAC) drop their second straight.

Hunter took a one point lead (38-37) on a free throw by Frankie Drayton with 14:40 left, but the Bearcats quickly responded out of a time out with a three-pointer by Shanahan and a pair of free throws by Feldman to go up, 42-38, with 13:54 remaining.

Hunter knocked down a jumper on their next possession to cut the score to 42-40, but a layup by Granville Gittens and another 3-pointer by current CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Shanahan increased the advantage to 47-40.

The Bearcats kept building on their momentum and would score 12 of the next 17 points for a comfortable 59-45 advantage with 4:45 left on the clock. That was enough of a buffer to hold on to the victory on School Spirit Night in front of one of the largest home crowds that did not involve the Battle of Lexington.

Gittens finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Feldman, who tied a career-high with 16 points, also added six steals and two assists. Raymond De La Cruz contributed seven points, six rebounds and one steal.

Edward Roscigno dished out four assists and Matas Rascius came off the bench to grab six rebounds.

Baruch will return to action on Wednesday, December 4, with an 8:00 pm road contest at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
