Free Throws Power Warhawks over SNC

SNC had the lead through the majority of the first half but free throws kept UW-W in the game. With the score tied and less than two minutes left in the first half, Cody Odegaard dropped in two free throws to put the Warhawks up 24-22. The Green Knights would knot the score at 24 with just 53 seconds left.

Whitewater had three opportunities to take the lead into halftime. Two jumpers followed by two offensive rebounds and the ball finally landed in the hands of Odegaard who registered the score as time expired to send the Warhawks into the locker room with a 26-24 lead. UW-W would not give up the lead the rest of the game.

The Warhawks shot just 23% from the field in the first half compared to 34% for SNC.

The second half saw the Warhawks gradually increase the lead pushing the margin to double figures, 49-39 on a KJ Evans jumper with 10:40 remaining. The Green Knights would pull to within seven with 2:40 on the clock, 62-55, but UW-W won the game from the line with nine of their final 11 points coming from the free throw stripe.

UW-W turned their shooting efficiency around in the second twenty minutes making 70%, 16-23, from the field.

Evans led all players with a double-double performance recording 25 points including 11-15 from the line and grabbing 13 boards. Reggie Hearn and Eric Bryson joined Evans in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.

The Warhawks will take a break from the court until December 3 when they travel to Beloit for a 7:00 tipoff.
