GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College men's basketball player Jack Taylor '15 put together yet another historical game Sunday afternoon.

Taylor, who last year shattered the NCAA record with a 138-point game, erupted for 109 in a 173-123 victory over Crossroads College at Darby Gymnasium.

That total is the third-highest in NCAA history, trailing only his effort last year and a 113-point game by Rio Grande's Clarence "Bevo" Francis in 1954.

Taylor was 35-of-70 from the field, including a 24-of-48 performance from 3-point land. He also hit 15-of-17 free throws as the Pioneers improved to 2-0.

His biggest stretch came in the early part of the second half, scoring 53 points in the first nine minutes.

"Just like last year (the 138-point game), I couldn't have done this without my teammates," said Taylor. "I give so much credit to them – this truly was a team effort. I'm thankful for the program and the people I have playing with me."
