CHICAGO - St. Norbert College opened the 2013-14 with an impressive offensive effort, topping the 100-point plateau in a 101-68 win over North Park University in a non-conference game at North Park Gymnasium.

The Green Knights (1-0) opened the season ranked No. 24 in the D3hoops.com Top 25. The point total marked the first time St. Norbert has scored at least 100 points in its season opener since a 113-79 win over Northland College on Dec. 1, 1972.

St. Norbert trailed 18-16 with 11:42 in the half before taking a 31-23 edge with 7:30 left before halftime on an Austin Elliott jumper. The Vikings (0-1) cut the deficit back down to four at 31-27 with 5:48 left in the half. Kam Cerroni then ignited a a quick 11-0 run by canning a 3-pointer on St. Norbert's next possession. Andy Fox canned a triple, and Cerroni followed with another trey and a layup for a 42-27 lead with 2:59 to go in the half. St. Norbert led 48-31 at halftime.

North Park would score on its first possession of the second half to trim the deficit to 15, but Cerroni countered with a basket and the Green Knights slowly built their lead the rest of the game. St. Norbert eventually took a 70-40 lead with 12:19 remaining on a Brandon Gries 3-pointer, and the Vikings never got inside 25 points again.

St. Norbert shot a lusty 62.1 percent from the floor, canning 36 of 58 field-goal attempts. Cerroni canned 19 points in his St. Norbert debut, while Gries added 17 points. Elliott chipped in with 16 points and Andrew Schwoerer 14. Twelve different players cracked the scoring column for St. Norbert, which held a commanding 44-24 rebounding advantage.

North Park, which shot 36.2 percent 921-for-58) from the floor, was led by Juwan Henry's 18 points. Aaron Weaver had 13 points and JayQuan Lee 11.
