SALISBURY, Md. – Senior Elijah Gore poured in a game- and career-high 24 points, including a career-best six three-pointers and classmate Travon Vann added 22 as the third-seeded Salisbury University men's basketball dispatched sixth-seeded York (Pa.) College, 80-60, in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday.

With the win, the sixth straight for Salisbury (19-7), the Sea Gulls advance to face second-seeded Wesley College in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m., in Dover, Del.

Junior Tim Harwood chipped in with 16 points to round out the three Sea Gulls in double figures.

SU shot over 60 percent (17-for-28) in the first half from the floor and 68 percent (13-of-19) from three-point range to jump out to commanding lead at halftime.

Gore hit the first of his threes at the 16:43 mark of the first half to give Salisbury a 10-4 lead and drained his second 55 seconds later to push it to a 13-7 advantage.

The lead grew to 11 at 19-8 on consecutive threes by Brandyn Wilkerson and Vann. Two more from downtown from Vann and Gore, respectively, extended the Sea Gulls' cushion to 36-16 with 8:32 remaining in the half and forced a York timeout.

Vann hit another three with 1:30 left to make it 49-30, but the Spartans closed with six straight points to cut the deficit to 13 at the break.

Salisbury cruised to the win in the second half, not leading by less than 11. York's Todd Maciejewski converted a layup with 6:03 left in the game, cutting the deficit to 67-56, but SU used a 7-2 run over the next four minutes to put the game out of reach.

Mike Mathews led four York (7-19) players in double digits with 14 points. Julian Watson had 12 points while Mitch Kemp and Maciejewski each had 10.

Salisbury turned 13 Spartan turnovers in 23 points and outscored the bench, 22-15.
