BRADFORD, PA - The Medaille men's basketball team found itself in a nip and tuck affair at Pitt-Bradford this evening. Unfortunately the Mavs fell victim to a bucket off an inbound play in the waning seconds, as Pitt-Bradford posted the upset (64-63), in the last regular season road game of the year for Medaille.

In a game that saw eight lead changes and thirteen ties, it was no surprise that it went down to the wire.  The Mavs grabbed a (63-60) lead with a minute and a half remaining when Josh Laureano slid a beautiful no look pass over his shoulder into the lane to a cutting Ryan Grandits who finished off the layup.

The Panthers would respond with a layup of their own with under a minute remaining, setting up the thrilling finish.  The Mavs would cycle through their offense and had a look at a bucket with the shot clock nearing expiration.  However, a Tyler Stevens runner would rim out and into the hands of a Pitt-Bradford player.  After several timeouts brought on by a baseline inbound scenario for Pitt-Bradford, the home team would cash in on a layup with (5.2) seconds remaining.  The Mavs would get one last opportunity as Anthony Battaglia was able to get off a very hurried shot from long range at the buzzer that rattled just long off the iron.

The Mavs were led by sophomore Jammal Coleman who notched a team high (17) points on (7 of 12) shooting from the floor.  He also chipped in with (3) rebounds, (3) assists, and (3) steals in the loss.  Fellow second year player, Alex Baron knocked down (5 of 11) field goal attempts en route to a (13) point outing that also saw him pull down (5) rebounds.  Senior Josh Laureano dished out a game high (5) assists while gathering in (6) caroms to aid his team.

Both teams matched each other with (26) points in the paint, the Mavs edged the Panthers on the boards (38-32), and the Medaille bench was slightly more effective than the Bradford reserves, outscoring them (17-15).

The loss snaps a three game win streak for Medaille and it eliminates their chances of winning the AMCC Regular Season Title.  The Mavs are still in the hunt for a 2nd seed and a first round bye in the conference tournament as they stand at (12-5) in the AMCC standings and are (15-9) overall.  The Mavs will hit the hardwood again on Saturday (2/16) when they host Pitt-Greensburg at 4:00pm on "Senior Day" in the Sullivan Center.
