St. Mary's City, Md. – The No. 12 St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team collected their fifth consecutive 20-win season with a 73-53 Capital Athletic Conference victory over Frostburg State University Wednesday night.

With tonight's win, the Seahawks not only improved to 20-2 (8-1 CAC) on the season, but swept the season series with Frostburg State (8-14, 2-7 CAC) as well. This victory also extended St. Mary's win streak to six straight.

Three Seahawks scored in double digits and junior guard Donn Hill (Aberdeen, Md./Bel Air) led the trio with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Hill added five rebounds and season-best four assists while sophomore guard Nick LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) came in with 15 points as LaGuerre drained four three-pointers. Junior guard Brendan McFall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) rounded out the two-digit scorers with 11 points and a game-best eight boards.

Hill converted on back-to-back layups in a quick 6-0 Seahawk run to start the game before a 13-5 run put the score in favor of Frostburg State, 13-11, at 12:06 for its largest lead of the contest. A four-point play by senior Christian Jackson, the league's leading scorer, maintained FSU's two-point lead at 9:17. St. Mary's responded with a 19-8 run to own a 35-26 halftime advantage.

LaGuerre led all scorers at the half with 12 points as he was 4-of-6 from downtown while the Bobcats' Jackson also finished the first 20 minutes with a dozen markers.

Hot shooting by St. Mary's in the second stanza really put Frostburg State against the ropes as the Seahawks outshot FSU, 51.9% to 26.7%. The hosts sported a 20-point lead for all but seven-and-a-half minutes of the second half, including their biggest advantage of the game up 29, 65-36 with 5:26 left to play following a dunk by first-year forward Troy Spurrier (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg).

Jackson ended the night with game-bests of 28 points and eight rebounds to pace the Bobcats.

The Seahawks will look to bolster their winning ways to seven consecutive victories this Saturday, February 9 when St. Mary's travels to Arlington, Virginia to face Marymount (Va.) University in conference action at 4:00 pm.
