OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team (14-4, 7-4 SUNYAC) went on a 16-1 run midway through the second half to pull away from Geneseo (14-6, 10-3 SUNYAC) in a 70-50 win on Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium.

The Lakers utilized a balanced attack to avenge a 61-51 loss to the Blue Knights only 10 days ago. Four players registered double-digit points in the win, with senior Hayden Ward (Montauk, N.Y.) leading the charge with 14 points and seven rebounds.

The two squads battled back and forth in the first stanza, as the lead changed hands five times. Geneseo led 24-19 with 5:29 remaining in the half, but the Lakers went on an 8-0 run to close the half and swing the momentum in their favor.

After Connor Fedge, who finished the game with 12 points for the Blue Knights, netted a layup to narrow the Oswego State lead down to 43-38 with 11:47 remaining, the Lakers took over.

Back-to-back three pointers from Alex Rawa (Fr., Locust Valley, N.Y.) and Kyle Covley (Fr., Penfield, N.Y.) highlighted the 16-1 run which spanned 5:12 and took the Blue Knights out of contention. During the streak, Geneseo went 0-for-5 from the field and had three turnovers.

With a comfortable lead, the Lakers were able to cruise to the victory and move up into fourth in the conference standings.

Covley and Chris Gilkes (Sr., Syracuse, N.Y.) both registered 11 points in the contest and Daniel Ross (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points of his own. Jordan Jones led the Blue Knights with 13 points.

The Lakers hit the road this weekend as they take on Buffalo State and Fredonia on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
