Wesley Matches Its Longest Win Streak Ever at 11 Games

ARLINGTON, Va. - Wesley College's men's basketball team won its 11th-straight game with a 68-45 victory at Capital Athletic Conference rival Marymount (Va.) on Saturday afternoon at the Saints' Verizon Sports Arena. The Wolverines (16-4, 6-1 CAC), who have now matched their longest win streak in program history, have also won 13 of their last 14 games.

Victory did not come easy for Wesley as they went into halftime up 31-29, despite being up by nine midway through the period.  However, the Wolverines, behind nine points by David Langan, went on a 15-2 run to open the first half and never looked back.  Paul Reynolds also tallied five points in the pivotal stretch.

Reynolds finished with a game-high 19 points while Langan added 14 points as Wesley outshot Marymount, 51.1% to 36.7%.  A terrorizing Wolverines defense also forced 24 Saints turnovers and turned that into 30 points.

Rasheed Carter and Quincy Pettiford also pitched in with nine points apiece.

For Marymount (6-14, 1-6 CAC), Reed Scott scored a team-high 11 points.

The Wolverines will look for its 12-straight win when they travel to CAC rival St. Mary's on Wednesday, January 30 for a 8 pm start.  Wesley defeated the Seahawks, 68-54, on January 12, at Wentworth Gymnasium. The last time he Wolverines had won 11-straight games (2010-11), the winning streak came to an end at St. Mary's on Februay 12, 2011.
