PITTSBURGH, PA - The Medaille College men's basketball team saw its seven game win streak snapped this afternoon by a hungry homestanding La Roche squad.  A big first half by the Redhawks doomed the Mavs as they fell (68-59) in a big AMCC showdown.

The Mavs knocked down a three pointer one minute in to the game to grab an early (3-0) lead.  That would be short lived as two straight buckets by the Redhawks put them ahead (4-3).  The Mavs would never lead again as La Roche pushed the tempo and the Mavs shot poorly en route to a tough conference loss.  The Mavs were only able to connect on (32.8%) of their shots and (25.0%) from beyond the arc.

In the loss the Mavs were led by Jammal Coleman who once again was the top scorer for the Mavs as he poured in a game high (17) points.  It is the seventh straight game that he has led Medaille in that category.  Senior Anthony Battaglia knocked down all six of his attempts from the charity stripe as he finished with (11) points to go along with (6) boards and (3) assists.

Senior point guard Josh Laureano matched a game high with (4) assists while chipping in with (10) points of his own.  Fellow senior Tyler Stevens followed closely behind with (9) points and came up with (3) steals on the defensive end.  Playing limited minutes, Alex Baron was (2 for 3) from the floor for a point outing that included (6) rebounds.

The Redhawks dominated the glass, out rebounding Medaille (44-28) overall and (13-7) on the offensive glass.  That discrepancy allowed them to tally (18) second chance points while outscoring Medaille (40-24) in the paint.  That, coupled with the fact that Medaille received just (8) points off its bench, were a recipe for disaster for the Mavs.

The loss drops Medaille to (12-7) overall and (9-3) in AMCC play.  They will look to avenge their only home loss of the season on Wednesday (1/30) when they head to Penn State-Behrend to face the first place Lions in a 8:00pm conference tilt.
