MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (13-6, 8-4 NJAC) finished off its season sweep of Montclair State (5-13, 2-10 NJAC) with a 60-43 road victory Jan. 23.

Senior guard/forward Lance Brown (Teaneck, N.J./Paterson Catholic) paced the Pioneers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while senior guard Rick DeStefano (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) was 4-for-7 (.571) from three-point range for 12 tallies.  Freshman guard/forward Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) was just shy of a double-double with 10 points and eight boards.

The Red Hawks enjoyed the early advantage, leading by as many as five (17-12, 10:40), and carried a 24-23 lead into halftime.  After shooting just 9-for-28 (.321) during the first 20 minutes, WP made four of its first five attempts from the floor to open the second period, helping to ignite an 11-0 burst that included a three-pointer from Brown and a pair of treys by DeStefano, making it a 42-31 Pioneer edge at the 12:42 mark.  That lead remained in double digits for the remainder of the contest, as William Paterson shot 50.0 (14-28) percent during the second half while holding MSU to a 17-for-61 (.279) effort on the night.

Ordel Goldson had 14 points and 13 points to lead Montclair State.  Kevin McGorry finished with 13 tallies and eight boards.  The win allowed WP to sweep the regular-season series from the Red Hawks after a 78-58 victory in Wayne on Nov. 28.

William Paterson will host Rowan Saturday, Jan. 26, at 3:00 p.m.
