WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (11-6, 7-4 NJAC) saw its seven-game men's basketball win streak come to an end with a 71-60 loss to visiting Richard Stockton (12-4, 8-3 NJAC) Jan. 19.

The Ospreys took control early, holding WP without a point for 4:58 and without a field goal for 8:12 of the first half, putting together a 23-3 run to build a 38-16 advantage with 1:20 remaining.  Richard Stockton entered the locker room with a 40-18 lead thanks to 61.5 (16-26) percent shooting overall and a 6-for-7 (.857) effort from three-point range while limiting the Pioneers to a .273 (6-22) field-goal percentage.

It was more of the same for much of the second half, as the final 11-point margin was as close as William Paterson could get during the final 20 minutes.

Freshman guard Bright Mensah (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) led WP with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Sophomore guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) added seven boards to his season-best 14 tallies, freshman guard/forward Terik Bridgeman (Harlem, N.Y./Nia Prep) finished with six points and seven rebounds, and sophomore forward James McLane (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) contributed eight tallies off the bench.

Sophomore Josh Blamon scored 12 of his game-best 19 points during the first half for the Ospreys.  Junior Kevin Johnson posted 12 tallies, eight assists and four steals, and senior Darnell McCargo had nine points and eight rebounds.

Richard Stockton finished the game 26-for-51 (.510) from the floor and 8-for-13 (.615) from behind the three-point line, while the Pioneers were 21-for-58 (.362) overall and 6-for-21 (.286) from long range.

William Paterson will host John Jay Monday, Jan. 21, at 3:00 p.m.
