LEXINGTON, Ky. – Parker Stansberry scored a career-high 19 points Saturday, pacing four teammates in double figures as Transylvania cruised past Anderson 78-58 in men's Heartland Conference basketball action at the Beck Center.
 
The Pioneers (13-4, 8-2 HCAC) have won three straight games and nine of their last 10 while the Ravens are 7-10, 3-7 HCAC. Transy came into the contest one game back of Rose-Hulman in the conference race. The Engineers defeated Bluffton in overtime Saturday.
 
Transy shot nearly 57 percent from the field for the game (29 of 51) while Anderson was an even 50 percent on 22 of 44. But the Pioneers were 10 of 20 from behind the arc to just five of 14 for the visitors.
 
Barrett Meyer hit seven of 10 shots for 16 points and Brandon Rash was five of eight for 11 points to go with eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Ethan Spurlin was also in double digits with 10 points.
 
Transy forced 14 Anderson turnovers, turning them into 23 points. Transy's bench also outscored Anderson's, 17-0. Twelve different Pioneers entered the scoring column.
 
Anderson also placed four players in double figures, led by 16 from Isaac Loechle.
 
Transy built leads of as many as 15 points in the first half, which ended with the Pioneers in control, 43-30. Transy connected on 17 of 26 shots for a smoking 65 percent while Anderson was at 12 of 25 (48 percent).
 
The Pioneers hit half of their eight three-point attempts, led by a two of three showing by Stansberry, who surpassed his career high with 18 points just in the first half. His previous high was 17 against Spalding.
 
Meyer added 12 points, hitting five of six shots, and Rash went four of five for nine points. Anderson was led by Cody Jackson, who had 11 first-half points.
 
Transy's biggest lead of the game was 22 points, 67-45, at the 8:48 mark when Tommy Sirkin pitched in a three-pointer. Transy led by no fewer than 12 points over the final 20 minutes.
 
The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Franklin at 7:30 p.m. at the Beck Center.
