PASADENA, CA – A steady offensive flow combined with strong defense helped Pomona-Pitzer to a 75-42 win over Caltech in a SCIAC men's basketball match-up.

The Beavers started the game struggling from the field and the visitors took full advantage in the first half. Caltech knocked down five of their 28 field goal attempts (17.9 percent) while the Sagehens went 13-for-31 from the floor (41.9).

Pomona-Pitzer held a double-figure advantage just before the halfway point of the frame. They eventually took a 34-13 lead at intermission. The visitors were also aided by a plus-13 rebounding edge during the first 20 minutes of action. The Sagehens held a 16-6 edge in points underneath the basket and a 7-0 advantage in second chance opportunities.

The Sagehens continued to shoot the ball effectively during the final 20 minutes of action. Caltech couldn't get their deficit below 22 points as the visitors claimed the win.

Pomona-Pitzer shot 41 percent (25-for-61) from the floor while holding the Beavers to a 26.4 shooting percentage (14-of-53). It was the second lowest shooting mark of the season for Caltech.

The Sagehens were clicking on the boards as they posted a 54-31 rebounding advantage.

The Beavers didn't convert any of their 16 shots from behind the arc. It was the first time Caltech was held without a three-point field goal since Nov. 24, 2009; a span of 85 games.

A host of Sagehens broke into the scoring column led by John Weiss's 15-point evening. Jake Klewer recorded a 13-point effort while Kyle McAndrews (12) rounded out the double digit scorers for the visitors. Eleven different players scored for Pomona-Pitzer.

Caltech's Kc Emezie came off the bench to score a team best 12 points in 21 minutes. Fellow reserve Pan Wang (10 points) scored in double figures for the first time since the season's opening weekend. Collin Murphy tied a personal best by grabbing 10 rebounds.
