Dover, Del. – Junior guard Donn Hill (Aberdeen, Md./Bel Air) was the only Seahawk to score in double digits as the win streak came to a halt at 14 Saturday afternoon.  The No. 9 St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team dropped just their second game of the season, succumbing to a 68-54 setback to Wesley College in Capital Athletic Conference action.

This is the Seahawks' first loss since suffering a season-opening 65-52 defeat at the hands of The Catholic University of America on November 17 at the 2012 Hoopsville National Invitational Classic hosted by Stevenson University.

Hill finished with 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting while guards Brendan McFall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) and Nick LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) contributed nine points.  On the boards, senior forward Jeff Haus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and sophomore center MacGyver Biniak (Elkridge, Md./Howard) each grabbed seven rebounds to pace the Seahawks.

St. Mary's (14-2, 3-1 CAC) started off strong as the game was tied twice in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the contest before the Seahawks used a 19-6 run to boast a 27-14 advantage with 9:40 left in the first half.  Wesley then turned it on and closed out the half on a 15-1 tear to stake a 29-28 halftime advantage.

McFall netted all of his nine points and five rebounds in the first half to lead St. Mary's while junior center David Langan (Sayreville, N.J.) and sophomore Quincy Pettiford (Portsmouth, Va.) paced all players with 10 points each at intermission.

The Seahawks reclaimed the lead with a 7-2 start to the second stanza as four different players scored.  Wesley responded with a 28-9 run to earn the lead for good and never looked back.  The Wolverines grew the lead to 19 with 2:25 remaining in the game before Hill notched five of St. Mary's last seven points.

St. Mary's sharpshooting was held to its lost percentage of the season, shooting just 12.5% from beyond the three-point arc.  The Seahawks went cold in the second half with a 0-for-9 effort from downtown.

Wesley (14-4, 4-1 CAC) commanded the glass with a 49-33 rebounding margin as Langan and senior forward Paul Reynolds (Wilmington, Del.) each pulled down a game-best 13 caroms.  Langan (18 points, 13 rebounds) and Reynolds (11 points, 13 rebounds) finished with double-doubles while Pettiford poured in a game-high 24 points with six three-pointers.

The Seahawks will look to return to the win column Wednesday, January 16 when St. Mary's travels to Fredericksburg, Va. to take on the University of Mary Washington in another conference game at 8:00 pm.
