Keuka Men's Hoops Rallies Past Lancaster Bible

Facing a double-digit second-half deficit, the Keuka College men's basketball team used a 25-13 run to rally past Lancaster Bible College, 72-67 Monday night in Lancaster, Pa.

Senior Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, NY/Gates Chili) scored 21 points and shot 93 percent on free throws (14-for-15) while sophomore Jared Wagner (Pittsford, NY/McQuaid) scored a career-high 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting on '3s' to help the Storm (4-7, 3-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference) complete the comeback from 15 points down.

Freshman Casey Williams (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) added 16 points and seven rebounds, both career-highs, while senior Conor Boyer (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) snared eight rebounds for the Green and Gold.

Tuggles scored 18 second-half points while Williams poured in 11 points after halftime to help Keuka rally for the win.

Keuka trailed 32-25 at halftime, and after the Chargers started the second half on an 8-2 run the Storm called a timeout trailing 40-27 just four minutes into the half.

The Chargers' lead swelled to 53-38 after Corey Leonard buried a '3' with 10:06 remaining, but it was all Storm afterwards.

Tuggles scored five consecutive points, including a three-point play, and Wagner hit consecutive '3s' to spark the Storm on a 14-0 run. When Williams made a free throw with 6:33 remaining, it sliced the deficit to 53-52.

Lancaster led by as many as four points until Wagner drained a '3' for a 63-62 Keuka lead with 2:36 remaining. After Keith Keltner knocked down a '3' for a 65-63 lead, Tuggles made a pair of free throws to knot the score with 1:43 left.

With the Storm trailing 67-65, Keuka closed out the game on a 7-0 run. Tuggles hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 67 with 1:16 remaining, then hit two more free throws for a 69-67 lead with 27 seconds left.

Lancaster Bible missed the front end of a 1-and-1, and sophomore Tyler Hixson (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket) extended the lead to 70-67 on a free throw with 14 seconds to go.

After the Chargers missed a game-tying '3', Tuggles went 2-for-2 at the line to clinch the win.

Keuka, which shot only 32.1 percent (9-for-28) in the first half, converted on 54.2 percent of its shots 13-for-24) in the second half.

Sophomore Trevor Healey (Wethersfield, CT/Wethersfield) had 6 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals for the Green and Gold, which had a season-low seven turnovers in the win.

Dan Karl led all scorers with 28 points on 12-for-16 shooting while Keltner added 14 points for Lancaster Bible.

The Storm play at Houghton College at 7 p.m. Wednesday night before hosting Gallaudet University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, the first of three straight home games.
