ASHLAND, VA --  Randolph-Macon held Gettysburg to just one made field goal for the first nine minutes of the second-half, helping the Yellow Jackets break open a close game and fuel what would be a 58-40 victory for R-MC.

With the win, Randolph-Macon has now won four games in a row and five of its last six to improve to 7-5 overall.  The victory over the Bullets marks the 31st consecutive non-conference home win for R-MC.  The last time the Jackets dropped a home game to a non-conference foe was to Methodist in 2006.

R-MC jumped out to a 23-9 lead when Akeem Holmes knocked down a jumper with just over six minutes to go in the first-half.  The Bullets closed the half on a 14-4 run, cutting its deficit to 27-23 after a three-point play by Alex Zurn with 37 seconds on the clock.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second stanza scoring six consecutive points to take a 10 point lead.  Following a Sango Amolo bucket to make it 32-25, R-MC would use an 8-0 run that was capped by a Dylan Cole layup to make it 40-25 with 10:40 to play.  Cole's basket would prove to be part of a 16-5 run that would give the Jackets a 51-33 lead with just over six minutes to play.

Connor Sullivan matched a career-high with 17 points for the second consecutive game.  Cole had 16 points to go along with seven rebounds.    Cole and Andre Simon, who also pulled in seven rebounds, helped R-MC to a 38-30 edge on the glass.  Simon also had eight points for the Yellow Jackets who made 20-of-46 (43.5%) shots from the field, including 6-of-9 from three-point land.

Gettysburg (5-7) got a game-high 18 points from Zurn who also snared nine boards in a losing effort.  The R-MC defense held the Bullets to 31.4% from the floor on 16-of-51 shooting, including just 2-of-14 from behind the three-point line.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action Saturday when it travels to face the 11-0 WildCats of Randolph College at 4:30 p.m.
