Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball defeated visiting Coast Guard 72-55 in the friendly confines of the Verizon Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.  The Saints improve to 3-5 on the season and 2-1 at home.

Reed Scott led all players with 17 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.  He added three steals and a pair of blocks while shooting an impressive 8-for-14 from the floor.

Antonio Rouse added 13 points and three assists for the Blue and White while JC Hoellich chipped in 10 points and five boards off the bench.

Despite a slow start to the first half that saw MU trail 8-4 early, the Saints battled back to take a 10-point lead at the 9:10 mark courtesy of a 14-4 run to go up 22-12.  Marymount would push its lead to as many as 13 in the frame before a 9-0 run pulled the Bears (1-7) within four at 28-24 with just over a minute remaining.  Scott would hit the final shot of the frame with seconds left, hauling in an offensive board and converting the tip-in to give the Blue and White a 30-24 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Coast Guard would pull back within three-points early before Marymount easily regained its double-figure advantage.  The Bears couldn't pull back within less than seven the rest of the way before a Jesse Konadu layup gave the Saints a double-digit lead for good with just under 10 minutes to play.

Jimmy Knudsen and Greg Marshall led the Bears with 11 points each.  Eli Sponseller added 10.

Marymount returns to action as it travels to the Sunshine State to take part in the Daytona Beach Shootout later this week .  The Saints take on Roanoke on Wednesday before facing Washington & Lee on Friday.
