BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Senior forward Paul Reynolds scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half, including all six of Wesley's points in overtime, to lead the Wolverines to a 68-65 victory in the BC/Don Glick Men's Basketball Classic.

The two teams battled on even terms throughout the game. Wesley held the game's biggest lead, 23-15, midway through the first half, but the Eagles hung tough and trailed by just two at the break, 32-30.

Wesley pushed its margin back to six early in the second half before six straight points by the Eagles tied the score. Daniel McClain knocked down a baseline jumper and Matthew Hunter added a 12-footer to pull the Eagles within two. David Larson then scored on a layup off an assist from Hunter to tie the score at 36-36 with 14:30 left in the game.

The teams then traded points for most of the next 10 minutes until a 5-0 spurt gave the Eagles their biggest lead of the game. With the score tied at 54-54, Ronnie Thomas knocked down a jumper and Tavis Stapleton drained a long 3-pointer to give Bridgewater a 59-54 lead with 4:24 left.

Buckets by Quincy Pettiford and Reynolds pulled Wesley to within a point before Thomas hit from beyond the arc to put the Eagles on top 62-58 with 2:25 left.

That turned out to be Bridgewater's final points of regulation as the Wolverines clawed back to tie the score. A layup by Eric Selby made it a two-point game and, following a BC turnover, Reynolds worked inside for a layup to tie the score at 62-62 with 1:42 remaining.

After trading empty possessions, Wesley had the ball in the final seconds with a chance to win. Reynolds had two looks at the basket in the closing seconds, but both shots were just off the mark as the teams headed for overtime tied at 62.

The Eagles struck first when Stapleton hit from long range to put the Eagles on top 65-62.

Bridgewater the failed to score in the final four minutes of overtime and Reynolds took over at the offensive end for Wesley. A layup by Reynolds made it a one-point game and two free throws with 20 seconds left put the Wolverines on top by one, 66-65.

Following a timeout, the Eagles turned the ball over on the inbounds pass and were forced to foul Reynolds. The Wesley big man made both foul shots to make it 68-65 with 10 seconds left.

The Eagles had two chances to tie in the closing seconds, but a pair of 3-point attempts were off the mark as the Wolverines escaped with their second overtime win in two days.

Reynolds got plenty of help at the offensive end as 6-8 center David Langan added 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Stapleton led the Eagles with 21 points and Ed Reddick scored 11.

In Saturday's first game, Eastern Mennonite raced past Maryland Bible, 112-61.

Reynolds, the Classic's MVP, was joined on the all-tournament team by his teammate Langan, Bridgewater's Stapleton and Reddick and EMU's Andrew Thorne and Ryan Yates.

The Eagles, now 6-3, return to action on Dec. 28 when they travel to the CNU Point Plaza tournament.
