FARMINGTON, Maine -- UMaine-Farmington's 13-0 run to close the first half set the stage for a dominant second half and a 66-52 victory over Colby-Sawyer, in a North Atlantic Conference men's basketball matchup Saturday afternoon at Dearborn Gym.

UMaine-Farmington (7-1, 3-1 NAC) trailed Colby-Sawyer (2-6, 2-2 NAC) much of the first half, with the Chargers holding a 25-16 lead with 4:44 left in the frame following a 3-pointer by Zach Bean (Scarborough, Maine).

The Chargers were held scoreless over the remainder of the half, with Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) accounting for seven of the Beavers' 13 points in the 13-0 run to end the half. UMF went into the locker room at the break leading 29-25.

The Beavers picked up in the second half where they left off in the first, with Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) making three layups in the first three minutes of the frame. A Garrett Clemmer (Windham, Maine/Windham) layup with 16:24 showing on the clock extended UMF's lead to double-digits, 39-29, and the Beavers never looked back.

Johnson scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half, and completed the double-double with 12 rebounds. Clemmer tallied 12 points, while Dickey finished with 10 points and nine boards. Both Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) and Sam Leal (York, Maine/York) dished out five assists.

After a lackluster 34.5 percent shooting performance in the first half, UMaine-Farmington shot 50.0 percent in the second half and finished the game 23-of-55 (.418) from the field. Defensively, the Beavers held Colby-Sawyer to just 31.6 percent shooting from the field. The Chargers' Mike Dias (Carver, Mass.), who at 20.4 points per game was ranked second among NAC scoring leaders, was held to just six points and 12 rebounds.

Bean led Colby-Sawyer with a 6-of-12 shooting effort on his way to 17 points, while Wol Majong (Manchester, N.H.) and Jake Maynard (Shelburne, Vt.) finished with 13 and 11 points respectively. Corey Willis (Easton, Mass.) distributed a team-high six assists.

UMaine-Farmington completes the semester on Tuesday, Dec. 12, when it travels to Gorham, Maine, to face the University of Southern Maine in a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. Colby-Sawyer takes a break for exams and the holidays, and returns to action on December 30 when it faces WPI.
