MADISON, Wis.- Coming into Saturday night's game, the Edgewood College men's basketball team was on a 10 game home winning streak. Despite 43 second half points, the Eagles fell to Aurora University 87-73 at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.

Edgewood College (1-5, 0-2 NAC) got off to a fast start scoring the first five points of the game on a pair of Justin Williams free throws and a Dylan Rusch three-pointer. The Spartans (3-3, 2-0 NAC) battled back to take their first lead of the game at the 14:35 mark of the first half. Aurora held the lead for the majority of the half, but with six minutes to play, Joe Klocek hit a jumper to put the Eagles back on top. Following that basket, the Spartans went on a 16-2 run to end the half and head into the locker room with a 43-30 lead.

In the second half, Edgewood College battled back, but every time the Eagles went on a run, the Spartans seemed to have an answer. The Eagles nailed 51.5 percent of their shots from the field in the half and scored 43 points, but Aurora built too much of the lead for Edgewood College to come back from. The Spartans hit 14 of 15 free throws in the half to seal the victory.

Four different Eagles scored in double figures with Brett Meinecke leading the way with a season-high 16 points. Klocek was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards and 10 points. Cashton Craig poured in 12 while Trevor Nealecame off the bench to score 11.

Aurora's Jordan Hester was 3-for-5 from three-point range and scored 21 points to lead the Spartans, who are favorites to win the Northern Athletics Conference South Division.

Still without a conference win, Edgewood College will be in action against Maranatha Baptist on Thursday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. preceding the women's game against Alverno College at 7:30 p.m. Live video and live stats will be provided. These links can be found at EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
