Five players scored in double figures, as the team shot over 60 percent from the field, and the Buena Vista men's basketball team picked up a commanding 96-46 non-conference road victory at Crown College (2-3) on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Troy Ticknor (Adel, Iowa/ADM) drilled four three-pointers and turned in a game-high 17 points to lead the offensive charge, while fellow senior Wes Nordquist (Adel, Iowa/ADM) was right behind with 15.  Senior Tyler Pleiss (Omaha, Neb./Ralston) set a career-high with 11 points, as did sophomore Greg Sibenaller (Hornick, Iowa/Westwood).  Sophomore Cole Darrow (Glenwood, Iowa/Glenwood) also chimed in with 10 points, including a pair of long range buckets.

As a team, BVU made 9-of-23 from downtown, including 7-of-14 in the first half alone.

Defensively, Nordquist pulled down nine rebounds with Sibenaller adding eight.  The Beavers out-rebounded Crown overall, 44-25.

Crown made its first four shots from the field to start the game and held the early 10-6 advantage.  From there, though, it was all Beavers, closing the half on a 44-18 run and taking a 50-28 lead into the break.

Darrow's layup and Ticknor's final three-point bucket to start the second half pushed the margin to 27 before Nick Clark (Fort Dodge, Iowa/St. Edmond) put the Beavers up by 31 just minutes later.

The Beavers held Crown to just 12 points over the first 11 minutes of the second half and doubled them up at 80-40 on a bucket from Sibenaller.

BVU cleared its bench from there and finished with its highest point total of the year.

It was the third straight contest in which it reached 90 points, marking the first time the team has done that since late in the 2000-01 season.

It's also the third straight win for the team which now sits at 4-3 on the year.  Next up is a non-conference road contest at Gustavus Adolphus (1-3) on Saturday, December 8 at 3:00pm.
