Scots' depth shines in 103-45 victory over Johnson

Fifteen Scots scored en route to a 103-45 Maryville College men's basketball victory over Johnson University on Monday evening in MC's Boydson Baird Gymnasium.

Head Coach Randy Lambert had the opportunity to see his squad's depth in action and watch as his Scots dominate on the boards, out rebounding Johnson 56-28.

Maryville jumped to a 53-19 halftime lead on 55% shooting while Johnson hit only 8-of-25 shots.

The Scots finished hitting 51% from the floor while holding their NCCAA opponent to a 30% shooting night.

Johnson University (0-9) was paced by Josiah Rechenbach's 15 points. He was 6-for-8 from the field including a 3-for-4 effort from beyond the arc. Kelechi Ibe added 10 points and seven points in the paint.

Maryville (2-0) had five players post double digits in scoring. Oscar Butler was 7-for-12 and finished with a game-high 16 points. Joey Bodewig and Jethro Griffin each poured in 13 points while Craig Raye was 5-for-8 from the floor for a dozen points. Christian Ford added 10 points, four rebounds, five assists and a steal from his point guard position. Jose Agosto led MC on the boards with seven rebounds. Bodewig and Griffin each added six rebounds.

The Scots will now look to challenge key NCAA South Region opponents Oglethorpe and Emory in a weekend tournament next Saturday in Atlanta. USA South action begins for the Scots Saturday, December when MC welcomes Christopher Newport University to Randy Lambert Court.
