WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington was able to hold off the University of New England for a 60-58 victory on day two of the 2012 Charlie Ryan Classic at Thomas College's Mahaney Gym.

A back and forth first half ended 25-24 in New England's (0-2) favor, with the biggest lead being four points by the Nor'easters. Devin Thompson led the pace for UNE with 13 points, while the Beavers' scoring was evenly paced out with three players with a team-high five points.

The scoring picked up in the second half, as the game continued to be neck and neck. Garrett Clemmer (Windham, Maine/Windham) would have a strong second half for the Beavers, hitting two big three pointers in the closing minutes, and finished with 15 points in the final half.

Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and Clemmer would both finish with double-doubles for UMaine-Farmington (2-0). Clemmer charted 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win, with much of his scoring coming on a 4-of-6 effort from 3-point range. Dickey posted 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook) added 16 points and nine boards. Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) dished out six assists.

For UNE, Devin Thompsons' game-high 22 points was not enough for the Nor'easters to secure a victory. Charles Fenner III was second on the team in scoring with 12 points, while Jesse Dykstra had a team high five rebounds.

UMaine-Farmington will return to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when it hosts Colby College at 7:00 p.m. at Dearborn Gymnasium.
