Rams Fall at Stockton in Championship Game

Pomona, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell 78-58 to Richard Stockton in the Championship game of the Stockton Tip-Off Tournament in Pomona, N.J. The Rams had advanced to the championship game with yesterday's 5-point victory over Neumann.

Leading 22-17 with 9:37 remaining in the first half, an 8-0 Ospreys run increased the advantage to 13 until senior guard Ryan Davis (Flushing, N.Y.) connected on a 3-pointer for Farmingdale State (1-0). Richard Stockton (2-0) scored the final 11 points of the half and took a 41-20 lead into the break.

The Ospreys increased the lead to 54-29 with 13:07 left to play, until a 12-2 Rams run over the next 3:32 cut the deficit to 56-41. After trading baskets, back-to-back 3-pointers by junior guard Rich Suhr (Toms River, N.J.) extended Richard Stockton's lead to 64-43. The Ospreys held a double-digit advantage for the remainder en route to the 78-58 victory.

Senior forward AJ Matthews (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led Farmingdale State 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Davis added 11 points and six assists, while sophomore guard Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored seven points.

Sophomore forward Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson, N.J.) scored a team-high 20 points for Richard Stockton, while Suhr and senior guard Darnell McCargo (Woodlynne, N.J.) each had 16 points.

The Rams next will travel to Medgar Evers for a non-conference game on Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m.
