MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/22/11)—Concordia got stuck in the middle of a thunderstorm of 3-point baskets as MSU Moorhead connected on a school-record 19 shots from outside the arc and went on to beat the Cobbers 96-56 at Alex Nemzek Hall on Tuesday.

Concordia (1-1) stayed close for the first five minutes of the game but then the Dragons started to rain down the threes from all over the court. MSU M went 8-for-11 from beyond the arc in the first half and then followed that 72.7% shooting effort up with a tidy 11-for-17 (64.7%) performance in the second half. The Dragons were 19-for-28 (67.9%) from 3-point range for the game.

MSU Moorhead (3-0) also used their superior interior size to come away with a 34-19 edge in rebounds. That included an 11-4 advantage in second chance points .

The Cobbers scratched their way throughout the first half in order to stay close to the Dragons and cut the lead to single digits several times in the first 20 minutes of play. One of the key plays came right at the end of the opening period of play when CC cut the lead to 10 points on a Jason Huus layup from inside the paint with just :16 to play. Unfortunately MSU M had one more 3-ball in their basket before the final buzzer and connected on a long-range shot from the right wing with under :06 left in the half. The field goal gave the Dragons a 47-34 lead at the break and carried their outside shooting momentum into the second half.

The Cobbers had three players score in double figures in the game and were led by junior center Jason Huus who came away with a team-high 14 points. He was 7-for-10 from the floor and also added five rebounds. Huus has scored more than 10 points in both games this year after not having a double-digit scoring game in his first two seasons at Concordia. Dewon McKenzie had 11 points and team-highs in rebounds (6) and steals (3). He is averaging 10 points in the team's first two games of the year. Brian Fisher was the third member of CC to score in double figures. He was 5-for-8 from the floor and chipped in 11 points.

The Dragons had four of their five starting players score at least 12 points in the game. Jake Lindfors and Charlie Chapman both had 20 points in the game. Chapman had a team-high six 3-point field goals as he went 6-for-8 from behind the arc. DJ Hamilton hit the clutch 3-pointer at the end of the first half and finished with 16 points and nine assists.

Concordia will now head to Nebraska to play in the Nebraska Wesleyan Holiday Tournament over the weekend. The Cobbers will face host Neb. Wesleyan on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and then square off against Luther on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
