Huus' Double-Double Highlights Season Finale

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (2/18/12)--Despite an 18-point, 11-rebound performance from junior center Jason Huus, Concordia was outscored 13-3 in the final 4:30 of the second half and lost 65-56 to St. John's in Collegeville on Saturday. Johnathon Molina connected on a layup with 4:41 to play to give the Cobbers a 53-52 lead but then CC went 1-for-6 down the stretch and lost by nine.

Huus carried the team in the first half. He had 10 points and six rebounds at the break. For the game he was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and 4-for-9 from the free throw line. He also had one assist and one block. 

The loss ends Concordia's 2011-12 season. The Cobbers finish the year at 7-18 in all games and 5-15 in league games. The win allows the Johnnies to clinch an MIAC playoff spot. SJU ends the regular season with a 15-10 overall record and an 11-9 mark in the MIAC.  

The Cobbers controlled the area around the basket but St. John's was able to knock down three more 3-point field goals to earn the win. Concordia outrebounded SJU 37-26 and held a 20-10 advantage in points in the paint. However, CC shot only 18.8% (3-for-16) from outside the arc for the game. The Johnnies had nine fewer field goal attempts in the game but went 6-for-16 (37.5%) from outside the arc.

Besides the team-high 18 points from Huus, Concordia had two other players factor in double figures in scoring. Andrew Martinson hit on all three of the Cobbers' 3-point field goals and had 15 points in the game. Ebo Nana-Kweson was 5-for-6 from  the free throw line and added 11 points. Molina filled the stat sheet in the final game of his college career. He finished with four points, six rebounds, two assists and three steals.

St. John's was led by Andy Burns who had a game-high 19 points and five rebounds. Aaron Barmore was 7-for-10 from the floor and finished with 18 points.
