For BC, it was their first time playing in the ECAC final since Brooklyn defeated Adelphi University, 70-54, in 1973.

The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Tyshawn Russell, who led all scorers with a game-high 31 points on 12-for-22 shooting from the field, including going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and 3-for-6 from the free throw line, while playing in all 40 minutes. Classmate forward Keiran Halton finished the game with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Junior forward Steven Grant chipped in with nine points and six rebounds coming off the bench, while senior Amil John and junior Kavon Baker also contributed with nine points each. Senior Wade Kornegay dished out a game-high five assists, to go with six rebounds.

Other than a 2-2 tie at the 19:08 mark of the first half, the Knights led from the opening tip until the final buzzer.

Mount St. Mary used a 20-9 run over a nine minute span in the first half to take a 12-point advantage, 29-17, their largest lead of the half. The Knights would take an eventual 37-33 halftime lead, while shooting 45.2% (14-31) from the field and 41.2% (7-17) from three. The Bulldogs shot 38.7% (12-31) from the field and 46.2% (6-13) from downtown.

Mount St. Mary would continue to lead in the second half, as Brooklyn would be unable to get over the hump. Following a layup from Grant that cut the BC deficit to three, 46-43, with 15:49 remaining in the game, the Knights would use a 7-0 run to build its lead back to double digits, 53-43, with 14:00 left before the final horn.

The Bulldogs would once again cut their deficit to three, 58-55, with at the 11:01 mark; however, that's as close as BC would get the rest of the game, as Mount St. Mary used a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 70-57 lead.  The Knights would eventually lead by as many as 14 en route to its 88-77 victory to claim the 2012 ECAC Metro Championship.

Mount St. Mary shot 46.6% (27-58) from the field for the game and 37.9% (11-29) from three, while Brooklyn shot 44.8% (30-67) from the field and 38.5% (10-26) from beyond the arc. Free throws would be a major key to the Knights win, as Mount St. Mary converted on 23 of 31 (74.2%) attempts from the line. Brooklyn went to the line just 15 times, while making seven (46.7%).

The Knights also held the rebounding edge, 46-32.
