DePauw had two chances in the final five seconds, but both potential game-winning shots were off the mark as the Tigers dropped a 49-48 North Coast Athletic Conference decision at Oberlin. DePauw dropped to 13-10 overall and 7-7 in the NCAC, while the Yeomen improved to 7-16 overall and 2-12 in the conference.

Barry Flynn's bucket with 2:09 left cut Oberlin's lead to 49-48 and Oberlin was unable to convert on its next possession. Sean Haseley's couldn't connect on a three-point try with 1:12 left and the hosts grabbed the rebound.

The Yeomen again ran the shot clock down before Geoff Simpson missed a layup. Haseley snagged the rebound and Flynn missed on his try with five seconds left. The Tigers fouled on the rebound, but it was only their fourth of the half. After another foul, the Tigers stole the in-bounds pass and Flynn's three-pointer missed giving the Yeomen the win.

DePauw led by as many as six in the first half at 19-13 after trailing by five in the opening minutes. Oberlin scored nine straight to take a 22-19 advantage. The Yeomen stretched it to four, but Kevin Sullivan's three-pointer with just over one minute left in the half cut the Oberlin halftime lead to 26-25.

The lead changed hands five times and there were four ties before DePauw led 42-39 on a pair of free throws by Tommy Fernitz with 8:11 left. Oberlin scored the next five on Mazi Farris' jumper and Emmanuel Lewis' three-pointer to take a 44-42 lead with just under six minutes left.

The Tigers tied the score two more times before Oberlin took the lead for good at 48-46 on Fox's bucket with 2:39 remaining.

Flynn and Fernitz each scored 10, while Haseley grabbed seven rebounds. Fox and Charlie Crawford-Silva each scored 10 for Oberlin, while Fox added eight rebounds and Crawford-Silva totaled four steals.

DePauw shot just 37.5 percent from the floor to Oberlin's 43.5 percent and each team grabbed 28 rebounds.

The Tigers return to NCAC play on Wednesday, February 15, when they host Wittenberg in the final regular season home game.
