Chris Beauchampscored 19 of his 21 points in the second half to lead the men's basketball team to a 55-50 CUNYAC home victory over their rival Hunter College Hawks on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

With the result, the Bearcats clinch the #4 seed in the CUNYAC Tournament and will play host to the Hawks again, the #5 seed, next Saturday, February 18, with a quarterfinal round game scheduled for 4:00 pm in the ARC Arena.

The two teams came into the contest knowing that the winner would host next Saturday's quarterfinal and today's low scoring defensive battle reflected that importance as the two teams battled to win the fourth seed.

The visiting Hawks took an 18-17 advantage into the halftime break and began the second half by scoring the first six points to lead 24-17. They later built up their advantage to nine points (31-22) with 14:14 left in the contest.

The Bearcats struggled but finally made a run late in the second half with Beauchamp scoring seven consecutive points to overturn a 43-37 deficit into a 44-43 lead. Beauchamp continued to carry the team and later connected on a 3-pointer with 1:05 left for a 52-46 lead.

That was enough to help the Bearcats close out the victory to improve their record to 13-12 overall, while the Hawks fall to 11-13.

With the 21 points this evening, Beauchamp surpasses the 1,500 point mark for a current total of 1,516, which is currently fourth best on the men's basketball team all-time scoring charts.

Mickey Abbatielloscored all 13 of his points in the second half by connecting on all five of his shots during the comeback. Fuat Yapar(8pts, 8rbs) and Granville Gittens(7pts, 7rbs, 4 blocks) also had a solid afternoon to help the Bearcats finish the regular season on a winning note.

Jeffrey Daza led the visiting Hawks with 13 points.

The CUNY Athletic Conference will officially announce the entire Championship Tournament schedule on Monday, February 13.
