Hamm Scores Career-High and Feinberg and Stafford Have Double-Double in 75-71 Win Over Westminster

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) - Junior guard Ryan Hamm (Maysville, Ky./Mason County) scored a career-high 15 points and junior small forward Phil Feinberg (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol) and senior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) both record a double-double in the Thomas More College men's basketball teams' 75-71 win over Westminster College tonight (Wednesday, February 8, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 16-7 overall and 11-3 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Titans fall to 5-17 overall and 4-10 in the PAC.

Westminster raced out to an 11-6 lead with 17:11 to play in the first half when Adam Carswell made one-of-two free throws.   Thomas More answered with a 6-0 run to take a 12-11 lead when Feinberg made two free-throws with 14:50 to play in the opening half.  Westminster responded with a 9-0 run capped by a Doug Smith three-pointer with 12:18 to play in the half to take a 20-12 lead.  The Saints put together a 23-11 run to take a 35-31 lead with 2:58 to play in the half when senior point guard Daniel Whelan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) made one-of-two free-throws.  The Titans closed out the half on a 7-2 run to take a 38-37 halftime lead when Ron Martino made a three-pointer with 1:03 to play in the first half.

Thomas More opened the second half on a 6-0 run to take a 43-38 lead with 18:38 to play in the game when Feinberg made a lay-up.  Westminster answered with a 7-2 run to tie the game at 45-45 on a Ben Dunlow jumper with 16:25 to play in the game.  The Saints responded with a 19-13 run capped by a Whelan three-pointer with 8:41 to play in the second half to take a 64-58 lead.  The Titans came right back with a 10-2 run to take a 68-66 lead on an Anthony Thomas lay-up with 5:39 to play in the game.  Thomas More closed out the game on a 9-3 run capped by two Hamm free-throws with 00.5-seconds to play in the game for the 75-71 victory.

Stafford led the Saints in scoring and on the boards with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Feinberg completed his double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Sophomore shooting guard Cameron Clemons (Louisville, Ky./Doss) led the team in assists with three, while Whelan led the team in steals with three.

The Saints will travel to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania on Saturday (February 11) to play Waynesburg University at 3:30 p.m. inside the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
