MAHWAH, N.J. – During a game that featured 10 lead changes and seven ties, it was No. 20 William Paterson (19-3, 9-2 NJAC) that scored the final six points of the game for a 58-55 victory at Ramapo (15-7, 6-5 NJAC) Feb. 4.  The win gave the Pioneers, who have two league contests remaining, a 2.5 game lead over New Jersey City (6-4) and Rutgers-Newark (6-4) in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Men's Basketball North Division standings.

Garret Thiel's three-point play handed Ramapo a 55-52 lead with 2:25 left, but those would be the last points of the game for the Roadrunners.  Junior Corey Chandler (Newark, N.J./Newark East Side) answered with a jumper 14 seconds later to pull WP within one, followed by a Ramapo turnover and a miss by each side.

Junior guard Rick DeStefano's (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) three-pointer gave William Paterson a 57-55 advantage with 1:00 to play, and the Roadrunners squandered an opportunity to pull ahead or tie when they missed a three-pointer and a second-chance jumper.  Ramapo was forced to foul when the second rebound went the Pioneers' way, and DeStefano made one of two from the stripe with seven seconds on the clock.  The Roadrunners did not get off a final attempt to try to force overtime.

Chandler led three Pioneers in double figures with 16 points.  Junior Julio Rosario (Perth Amboy, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) had 11 tallies and nine rebounds, and freshman guard Jaques Conceicao (Massama-Lisboa, Portugal/Francais Charle Lepierre) posted 10 points and eight boards.  Freshman James McLane (Belleville, N.J./Queen of Peace) contributed seven rebounds and sophomore Femi Agunbiade (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) had six.

Stephon Treadwell had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for Ramapo.

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 8:00 p.m.
