FAVORS, BECKER DOWN REGIS, 66-43

WESTON, Mass. – Becker College's Terrance Favors (Boston, Mass.) scored a game-high 25 points as the Hawks moved to a perfect 10-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with a 66-43 victory over host Regis College in NECC action on Thursday night. Regis drops to 8-12 this year overall and 5-6 in league play while Becker improves to 15-4 overall and remains unblemished in the NECC. Osanto Marc (Kissimmee, Fla.) scored 10 points to lead the Pride.

Becker jumped out to an early 10-3 lead as Favors scored on the fast break on a nice feed from Chris Canady (Newark, N.J.). The Hawks extended their lead to 13 with 7:43 remaining as Lee Brockett (Waterbury, Conn.) connected from long range, however the Pride knifed into the deficit with baskets by Marc and Ryan Chambers (Abington, Mass.). Robert Edwards (Memphis, Tenn.) knocked down 1-of-2 at the line to make it a six point game before the Hawks closed the period on a 9-0 run to take a 35-20 lead into the break.

Regis was led at the half by five points apiece from Marc, Edwards, and Mike McCloskey (Winter Springs, Fla.). Becker's Terrance Favors led all scorers with 13 points. Jerome Cohen (Boston, Mass.) came off the bench to score four points and grab seven rebounds.

The Hawks extended their lead to as many as 23 points in the second half as another Favors pull-up jumper forced a Regis timeout with the score 48-25. Yahmoud Rountree's (Waterbury, Conn.) jumper with 11:05 remaining gave Becker its largest lead of the game at 25. The Pride would not go away quietly however as they put together a 15-3 run led by back-to-back running jumpers from Jonathan Josselin (Medford, Mass.) and a pair of triples from Ryan Chambers to make it a 56-43 ball game with 4:45 remaining.

Following a Becker timeout, the Hawks responded to the run by stepping up the defense and finishing the game on a 10-0 run to secure the 66-43 victory and remain perfect in NECC play.

Becker won the battle on the boards 35-27 while converting 18 Pride turnovers into 16 points. The Pride shot 34% (16-of-47) from the field compared to 50% (27-of-54) for the Hawks.

Osanto Marc was the only player in double-figures for the Pride with 10 points. Robert Edwards chipped in eight points and seven rebounds while Ryan Chambers also added nine points. Jonathan Josselin came off the bench to score eight points and grab three rebounds.

Becker was led by 25 points and five assists from Favors, while Jerome Cohen had eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.) finished the game with six points and nine rebounds.

Regis returns to action next Tuesday as the Pride hosts Lesley University in an NECC matchup at 7:30 p.m. Becker looks to make it 10-wins in-a-row when the Hawks host Wheelock College on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
