SALISBURY, Md. - Paul Reynolds matched his career-high with 32 points, including six in the final minute of regulation, to lead the Wesley College men's basketball team to a 65-60 victory over Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury on Saturday afternoon  at Maggs PAC.  The win gives the Wolverines an 8-11 overall record with a 6-4 mark in the CAC.

A native Smyrna, Del., Reynolds made 12-of-18 shots from the field and 8-of-11 from the line to lead a short-handed Wesley squad.  The six-foot-four junior also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds as the Wolverines were without leading scorer Darrell Johnson.

Despite not making a single shot from behind-the-arc, the Wolverines led the entire game while shooting 48.2% from the field compared to just 41.4% for the Sea Gulls.

Reynolds' layup to open the second half gave Wesley a 31-20 lead, its largest of the day. Salisbury fought right back, however, going on a 14-4 run to cut the lead to 35-34 with 14:06 remaining.

Wesley  extended its lead to as many as seven in the second half, but the Sea Gulls would not go away, and at the 1:04 mark got the deficit down to a single possession at 59-57.

That is when Reynolds once again answered the call, hitting a jumper with 42 seconds left, putting the Wolverines up  four.  JJ Bryant (six points, two blocks) swatted away a Sea Gull three-pointer and grabbed the rebound on Salisbury's ensuing possession and dished the ball off to Reynolds where he was immediately fouled.  He made both free throws with 19 seconds left to seal the victory.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, February 1, whey travel to CAC nemesis Stevenson University for a 8 pm tip.
