Buffalo State Clobbers Oneonta, 102-65

BUFFALO, NY— Ahmed Nagaya (Bronx/Astor Collegiate) was a perfect 13 of 13 from the field and scored a career-high 30 points to lead Buffalo State (15-3/8-3) to a 102-65 victory over visiting Oneonta (2-16/1-10) in a SUNYAC game today at the Sports Arena. 

Nagaya added nine rebounds and hit 4 of 7 from the charity stripe.  Jake Simmons (Rochester/School of the Arts) netted 17 points to bolster the Bengals offense, and Nico McLean (Amherst/Amherst) added 12 points.

Frankie Kelly (Brewster/Kennedy Catholic) led four Red Dragons scoring in double-figures with 13 points.  Dan McLaren (Troy/Troy) and Nick Sarchioto (Duanesburg/Bishop Gibbons) scored 12 points each, and Alby Skrelji (Hurson/Hastings) chipped in 10.

Oneonta hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring, but Buffalo State took control from there.  The Bengals raced to a 33-13 lead and were ahead 53-37 at halftime.  Oneonta hung around in the second half, but could not close the gap, before Buffalo State closed the game with a 19-2 run.

Buffalo State connected on 61-percent of its shots from the field, compared to just 39-percent shooting by Oneonta.  The Bengals outscored the Red Dragons in the paint, 60-30.

Buffalo State will hit the road next weekend and will visit Plattsburgh on Friday at 8 p.m.
