Choctaws Fall Late to Patriots, 58-57

TYLER, TX - The Mississippi College men's basketball team could not hold on to a late lead as they fell to the University of Texas at Tyler, 58-57, on Saturday afternoon in the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (6-13, 5-10 ASC) got a three-pointer from Brandon Levine with 2:39 remaining to take the lead for good, 52-51.  Levine scored a game-high 19 points, making 4-7 three pointers.

The Choctaws (4-13, 3-11 ASC) trailed 32-31 at the half, but grabbed an early lead and took their largest lead of the game with 10:54 remaining when Terencio Powell hit a layup to make the score 44-38.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the second half with the Patriots going 8-33 (24%) and the Choctaws shooting 11-32 (34%).

Sophomore #Brandon Blake# led MC with 14 points, while senior #Trevon Malone# tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.

Darren Houliston tallied nine points and had a team-high 10 boards in the contest.

The Choctaws will travel back home to face LeTourneau on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
