WHEATON, Ill. – The No. 21-ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's basketball team lost 60-53 at No. 22-ranked Wheaton on Saturday (Jan. 28).

The Titans fell to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, dropping into a second place tie with the Thunder in the league. Wheaton is also 6-2 and 15-4 overall.

Wheaton led 27-23 at the half but Illinois Wesleyan roared back and scored 11 of the first 14 points of the second half to claim a 34-30 lead after a Jordan Zimmer 3-pointer with 16:30 left in the game.
The Thunder then went on a 15-4 run and gained a 45-38 lead with 11:06 remaining and held onto the lead the rest of the way.
The Titans got within four at 55-51 with 44 seconds left.

IWU, who committed 17 turnovers in the game, shot .379 from the field (22 of 58) and made just 2 of 13 3-point shots (.154). IWU knocked only half of its free throw tries, going 7 for 14. The Titans gathered in 39 rebounds to 33 for Wheaton and had 13 offensive boards.

Junior Kevin Reed was 7 of 10 from the field and led the Titans with 15 points while Zimmer was limited to 12 points but tied with sophomore Victor Davis for team-high rebounding honors with seven.

The Thunder shot .440 from the floor (22 of 50) and made just 1 of 6 from beyond the arc (.167) while hitting 15 of 22 free throws (.682). Wheaton was guilty of 14 turnovers. Tim McCrary had 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots to pace the Thunder while Spencer Schultze added 13 points and five boards.

Illinois Wesleyan plays at No. 20-ranked Augustana at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 31). The Vikings, winners of four in a row, are 15-4 overall and 5-3 in the CCIW after a 98-28 win over Millikin on Saturday.
