(WASHINGTON, Pa.) - Senior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) scored a team-high 19 points to lead the Thomas More College men's basketball team to an 84-74 win over Washington & Jefferson College today (Saturday, January 28, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Henry Memorial Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 13-7 overall and 8-3 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Presidents fall to 6-13 overall and 2-8 in the PAC.

Washington & Jefferson took an early 19-12 lead when Andy Carter made a three-pointer with 13:16 to play in the opening half.  Thomas More answered with a 16-4 run capped by a lay-up by Stafford to take a 28-23 lead with 7:31 to play in the half.  The Presidents responded with a 6-0 run to retake the lead at 29-28 with 5:49 to play in the first half when Uchenna Okocha made a jumper.  The Saints closed out the first half on a 13-4 run to take a 41-33 lead at halftime when senior point guard Daniel Whelan (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) made a three-pointer with 10-seconds to play in the first half.

W&J opened the second half on a 15-7 run capped by a Zach Bellhy three-pointer to tie the game at 48-48 with 15:55 to play in the game.  Thomas More answered with a 28-13 run to build a 76-61 lead with 5:14 to play in the game when Whelan made lay-up.   W&J closed out the game on a 13-8 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 84-74.

Three other Saints joined Stafford in double-figure scoring as Whelan and sophomore shooting guard Cameron Clemons (Louisville, Ky./Doss) each finished with 15 points and senior shooting guard Todd Krohman (Florence, Ky./Bonne County) added 12 points.  Junior small forward Phil Feinberg (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol) led the team in rebounds with 10 and steals with three.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday (February 1) when they host Bethany College at 7:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
