Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Men's Basketball had its six-game home winning streak snapped this afternoon, as the Bulldogs fell to the visiting Bearcats of Baruch College by a score of 77-66 in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) contest.

The loss drops Brooklyn to 10-5 overall on the season and 3-3 in conference play; while Baruch improves to 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the league.

The Bearcats would strike first in the opening period as the visitors jumped out to an early nine point advantage, 11-2, at the 15:11 mark of the half. A Granville Gittens layup would later give Baruch its largest lead of the stanza, 21-7, at the midway point of the stanza. 

The Bulldogs would begin to cut into their deficit and get to within four points on two different occasions, but the Bearcats would eventually take a 10 point lead, 35-25, into the locker room.

Brooklyn would continue to cut into Baruch's advantage in the second half; however, the Bulldogs would be unable to get over their first half deficit, as the Bearcats answered each Brooklyn run.

With 12:05 remaining in the game, a layup from Keiran Halton made it just a three-point game, 43-40, in favor of the visitors; however, that is as close as Brooklyn would get the rest of the game, as Baruch would push their lead back to double figures on a jumper from Rob Goldstein to make it 65-54 in favor of the Bearcats, with just 2:35 left before the final buzzer.

Baruch would eventually close out Brooklyn for the 77-66 final.

Calvin Jurewicz-Johnson led all scorers for the Bearcats with a game-high 26 points, to go with five assists and three steals. Chris Beauchamp finished the day with a double-double, recording 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Mickey Abbatiello chipped in with 11 points. Justin Giryluk grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds.

The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Tyshawn Russell who netter 23 points, to go along with nine rebounds. Classmate and backcourt teammate Amil John ended the day with 21 points and five assists. Junior forward Steven Grant contributed with eight points coming off the bench.

For the game, the Bearcats shot 41.7% (25-60) from the field, while being held to 29.4% (5-17) shooting from beyond the arc. Baruch also converted 78.6% (22-28) from the free throw line.

Brooklyn was held to 38.1% (24-63) shooting from the field and 25.0% (5-20) from three. The Bulldogs converted 81.3% (13-16) from the charity stripe.

Baruch also won the battle of the glass, out-rebounding Brooklyn 50-30. Brooklyn forced Baruch into 19 turnovers for the game, while committing 15 turnovers of its own.

Brooklyn will be back in action this Monday, January 23rd, as the Bulldogs will hit the road to Jersey City, NJ to take on the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in a non-conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
