DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Manhattanville College shot 58.3 percent from the field and was 19-for-20 from the foul line as the visiting Valiants held on for an 83-79 victory at Delaware Valley College in a Freedom Conference game.

Manhattanville connected on 28 of 47 shots on the evening, including an 8-for-16 effort from beyond the arc. The Valiants were 14-for-25 (56 percent) in the first half, and even better in the second stanza with a 14-for-23 (60.9 performance).

Both teams hit six treys in the opening 20 minutes with Delaware Valley taking a 41-40 advantage into the locker room. The lead changed hands five times in the opening five minutes before the Aggies tied it up at 55-55 on a pair of Nathan Bollinger free throws with 14:28 remaining.

Manhattanville followed with a 7-0 run with layups by Amani Blackmon and Trevor Pointer and an Ivan Jovicic 3-pointer sandwiched in-between.  The Valiants were still up seven when Delaware Valley had a 7-0 spurt of its own as Daulton Derr scored four points and Bollinger added three.

Manhattanville regained the lead on back-to-back layups by Jack Bramswig. Delaware Valley all-conference forward/center Jeremy Beckett then fouled out of the game with 6:20 remaining as he was called for his third offensive charge of the evening.

The Valiants could not build the lead larger than four and four straight points by Derr tied the game at 72-72 with 3:03 left. Pointer and Derr traded layups before a pair of foul shots by Jeffrey Ventura and a jumper by Pointer gave Manhattanville a 78-74 advantage with 1:42 left.

Derr responded with a 3-pointer just 15 seconds, but he was called for a foul at the other end. Blackmon hit two more from the line to make Manhattanville a perfect 16-for-16 from the charity stripe.

Delaware Valley's Jay Donovan was sent to the foul line with 58 seconds to go and he hit both attempts to pull the Aggies to within one, 80-79. Bramswig was sent to line with 33 seconds and hit one of two for the Valiants' lone miss of the night.

Delaware Valley came down the court and a chance for the tie, but a Nate Lewis jumper fell short and Blackmon was fouled with five seconds to go. He sank both free throws to ice the game.

Pointer led by Manhattanville with 20 points while Blackmon finished with 18 points and eight rebounds. Ventura added 11 points in the win.

Bollinger hit four treys and finished with a game-high 25 points. Derr came off the bench to notch 20 points and eight rebounds, including 15 points in the second half. Beckett had 18 points and five boards before fouling out.
