Patchogue, N.Y. – Senior Cody Gauvard (Rockaway, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 39 points and was one of three Dolphins in double-figures, but the College of Mount Saint Vincent fell on the road at St. Joseph's-L.I. by a score of 110-95 Tuesday night. Gauvard's point total is tied for fourth all-time in a single game at Mount Saint Vincent.

The Dolphins never led in the game and fell behind by 12 points with 13:21 to play in the first half following a Cody Lohsen bucket for the Golden Eagles. The Mount would battle back to within a pair, at 28-26, after a Kevin Henry (Yonkers, N.Y.) jumper, but would not be able to get the score tied.

The Golden Eagles used a 11-2 run after the Henry bucket to reopen an 11 point advantage with 5:44 left in the frame, before heading to the locker room with a 49-41 lead after a pair of Chris Jimenez free-throws in the final minute.

The Golden Eagles outscored the Dolphins 20-10 in the paint in the opening stanza and turned only four Mount Saint Vincent turnovers into 12 points. Trey Black had a big half for St. Joseph's with 16 points and was one of three Golden Eagles in double-figures at the intermission.

St. Joseph's came out of the break and used a 20-5 spurt keyed by four three-pointers to open a commanding 69-46 lead with just under 16 minutes to play in regulation time. The advantage would balloon to a game-high 27 points after an Olivier Laurent lay-in and would get no smaller then 15 points the remainder of the evening.

Gauvard did most of his work after the intermission for the Dolphins and scored 28 of his game-high 39 points in the second half. He converted 10 of his 14 field goals in the second stanza and 10 of his 11 free-throws. For the game he finished 14-for-25 from the floor and 11-for-16 from the free-throw line. He also grabbed six rebounds for the Mount.

The scoring output is the third 30-point performance for a Mount Saint Vincent player this season and is the highest since Omonya Onwe scored 32 against Mitchell on November 20, 2010. The 39 points is just four points off the program record of 43 scored by Jim McNamara.

Shaquille Cunningham (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished the night with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Stephen Oliver (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored in double-figures for the second straight game with 10 points.

Senior Mark Waite (Chicago, Ill.) led the team with 12 rebounds and chipped in eight points, while junior Sean Caputo (Staten Island, N.Y.) led the team with four assists to go along with eight tallies.

For the game, Mount Saint Vincent shot just under 48-percent from the floor, but struggled from the three-point line, going just 5-for-18 on the night. Oliver and Caputo combined to go 4-for-11 from behind the arc.

The Golden Eagles shot nearly 56-percent as a team and shot just under 82-percent from the free-throw line. A balanced scoring attack that featured five players in double-figures was led by 29 points from Laurent and 20 from Black.

Black also led the team in rebounds with 10, while Laurent and Chris Jimenez tied for the team lead with five assists apiece.
