NORTHFIELD, VT. - A 30-point offensive explosion for sophomore Tommy McDonald (Groton, Mass.) propelled Norwich University to a 67-64 Great Northeast Athletic Conference win over Suffolk Jan. 12.

McDonald achieved the program's first 30-point effort since last February behind nine-of-17 shooting, five three-pointers and seven made free throws. His point total also helped him notch his sixth consecutive double-figure scoring game.

Freshman forward Evan Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.) added 10 points for Norwich while senior forward Leland Brunswick (San Francisco, Calif.), sophomore guard Everett Ramirez (Boyle Heights, Calif.) and junior forward Brandon Kuhre (Lebanon, N.H.) all had seven points. Brunswick also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Suffolk (5-7, 2-4 GNAC) was paced by Chris Torres' 19 points. Matt Pepdjonovic pulled down a game-high 21 boards for the Rams.

NU (3-8, 2-3 GNAC) travels to Standish, Maine on Jan. 14 to take on conference foe St. Joseph's. Tipoff for the afternoon game is scheduled for 3 p.m.

NOTES - Norwich's previous 30-point-plus game belongs to senior forward Antonio Davis (Albany, N.Y.). He netted 36 last year in a home win over Johnson and Wales. ... The back-to-back wins inside Andrews Gymnasium mark the first such run at home for the Maroon and Gold since February 13 and 15 of 2010-11. ... Coach Paul Booth stands just one win shy of 250 going into Saturday.
