CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, Utah) and junior Will Tashman (Atherton, Calif.) gave the No. 3 ranked MIT a big boost in the front court to help the Engineers pick up an 83-55 road in over the Coast Guard Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball play on Wednesday night. The win pushes Tech's ledger to a perfect 15-0 on the season, after winning its first three games of league play. With 15 straight victories, MIT has tied the program record for consecutive wins, matching the mark set by the 1961-62 squad.

Hollingsworth scored a team-high 24 points and Tashman added 21 and 14 rebounds, as the Cardinal and Gray outscored Coast Guard (6-6, 0-3 NEWMAC) 38-20 in points in the paint. Senior Jamie Karraker (Morgantown, W. Va.) was in double-figures with 11 points while junior Mitchell Kates (Colts Neck, N.J.) had six points, nine boards and three assists.

The MIT defense held the Bears to a season-low 31.3% (21-67) from the field while forcing 15 turnovers.

Tech jumped out to an early 14-3 lead over the first 4:33, with all five starters getting in on the scoring early, and would lead 43-24 at the half.

The Bears scored the first five points of the second half to pull within 14 but would get no closer the rest of the way. A 12-2 spurt midway through the period helped put the game away.

Devonte Weems (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) and Jimmy Knudsen (Ridge, N.Y.) finished in double figures for Coast Guard, with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

MIT will play at Babson College on Saturday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. while Coast Guard will travel to Clark University on Saturday, for a 1:00 p.m. tip.
