Late Run Helps R-MC Clip Randolph 52-49 in ODAC Hoops Action

Fueled by a 20-5 run late in the second-half, the Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball team earned a, 52-49, victory over Randolph Wednesday in ODAC action.

With R-MC (9-3 / 3-2 ODAC) trailing 37-28 with just over 12 minutes to play, Jamie Robinson and Connor Sullivan drained back-to-back three-pointers to make the score 37-34 with 10 minutes to play.

An Andre Simon bucket with 7:50 on the clock tied the game at 37-37, before a three-point play by Zach Desgain gave Randolph (6-6 / 2-2 ODAC) the lead back on its ensuing possession.

With Randolph leading 42-39 with just over four minutes to go, Simon scored five straight points to push R-MC back in front for good at 44-42.

R-MC extended its advantage to 50-44 on a Sullivan lay in with just 28 seconds to play. Randolph would fight back, scoring five of the next seven points, with a Colton Hunt three pointer, making the score 52-49 with eight seconds to play.

After a missed free-throw on the Jackets' next possession, Hunt had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but his shot fell short as time expired.

Randolph-Macon was led by Simon and Lamar Giggetts who each scored 12 points in the win. R-MC was 22-of-54 from the floor for a 40.7 shooting percentage on the night.

Randolph got 13 points from Hunt, while he and Desgain each pulled down eight rebounds to help the WildCats to a 35-27 edge on the glass. Randolph shot 42.6%, but were hurt by 24 turnovers .

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it hosts Bridgewater at 2:00 p.m.'
