Cyclones Fall To Crimson Eagles 94-80

LANGHORNE, Pa. (December 10, 2011) – Despite double-digit scoring performances by all five Centenary starters, the Cyclones were unable to take down the Philadelphia Biblical University Crimson Eagles as they fell 94-80 on Saturday afternoon.

It was all Crimson Eagles early as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead to open the game before the Cyclones cut that lead down with a 7-3 run to bring it to 11-9. After exchanging a few shots back and forth, the Crimson Eagles offense came through again as they extended their lead to 25-14, but the Cyclones would not go down quietly, going on a 8-0 run thanks to five back-to-back points by junior Warren Murphy (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) to limit the lead to 25-22.

Unfortunately for the Cyclones, the Crimson Eagles offense proved to be too much in the first half as they went into the locker room down 42-32.

The Crimson Eagles came out of the half firing again with the help of an 18-9 run to bring their lead to 60-41. Despite a few big baskets, the Cyclones could not break through as the Crimson Eagles maintained at least a ten point differential the entire second half and never once allowed the Cyclones to take the lead.

With the loss, senior Larry Lenahan (South Amboy, N.J./South Amboy) snapped a six-game streak of consecutive double-doubles as he finished with only 15 points and two rebounds despite shooting 6-8 from the field.  Sophomore Andy Charles (West Orange, N.J./Montclair) finished the game with 13 points, seven rebounds, one steal and a block for the Cyclones.

The loss to the Crimson Eagles brings the Cyclones to 4-5 on the year, including a 2-3 conference mark as they look to bring their record back to .500 when they take on The College of New Jersey on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 2pm.
