HAVERFORD, Pa. – Hayk Gyokchyan and Georgio Milligan combined for 51 points to lead No. 11 Franklin & Marshall to a 71-61 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.  The win is the eighth straight over Haverford.

F&M remains unbeaten on season with a 9-0, 4-0 CC mark while the Fords fell to 2-7, 1-4 CC. 

The first half was a battle, resulting in five lead changes and two ties as neither team led by more than six points.  The Diplomats went up six points, 15-9, on a Milligan layup at 13:47, before the Fords answered with a 10-4 run to tie the game at 19-19 at 9:29.  Haverford went up five points on a three-pointer by Ian Goldberg two minutes later. Matt Porter's jumper with 59 seconds remaining in the half put the Diplomats back on top, but the Fords answered with three-straight points to close the half with a 33-31 edge. 

Haverford went up five points 40 seconds into the second half on a trey by Joel Michel. F&M kept pace and slowly chipped away and took a 39-38 edge on a Milligan bucket at 16:51. The Diplomats extended their to lead to three, but Haverford scored four straight to regain the lead, 42-41, at 14:52. 

F&M went on a 10-4 run over the next three and half minutes to take the lead, 51-45, for good. The Fords hung around and came within two points, 61-59, at 5:37. The Diplomats quickly answered with three points from the stripe and built their lead to seven points, 67-60, on a Gyokchyan free throw at 1:38. Haverford only managed one point through the final minute and half of the game and F&M netted four in that span. 

Gyokchyan scored a career-high 29 points to go along with 11 boards for his fourth double-double of the year. The junior shot 13-for-16 from the field and went 3-for-6 from the stripe. Milligan tallied 22 points for his fourth 20+ plus points performance this season. 

Jon Salandra finished with seven points while Matt Porter and Brandon Beckford both netted six points each. 

Goldberg scored a team-high 20 points for the Fords and Michel ended with 16. 

The Diplomats held a commanding 34-19 advantage on the glass and outshot the Fords 57% to 50%. 

F&M returns to action on Jan. 2 when the Diplomats host Misericordia at 7:00 p.m in the first round of the Sponaugle New Years Tournament.
