(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Junior small forward Phil Feinberg (Tempe, Ariz./Corona Del Sol) scored a career-high 28 points, but it wasn't enough as the Thomas More College men's basketball team fell, 85-80, to in-state rival Transylvania University tonight (Monday, November 28, 2011) at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 4-1 on the season and with the win, the Pioneers improve to 3-0.

Transylvania took an early 11-2 lead when Ethan Spurlin made a lay-up with 15:34 to play in the first half.  Thomas More answered with a 14-6 run to cut the lead to 17-16 with 10:10 to play in the opening half when Feinberg made two free-throws.  The Pioneers responded with a 23-13 run capped by a Brandon Rash lay-up to extend the lead to 40-29 with 1:36 to play in the half.  Thomas More closed out the half on a 3-1 run to cut the lead to 41-32 at halftime.

The Saints opened the second half on a 20-7 run to extend take a 52-48 with 13:55 to play in the game when Feinberg converted a conventional three-point play.  Transy came right back with a 17-6 lead to take a 65-58 lead when Ashley Hatfield made a three-pointer with 8:18 to play in the game.  Thomas More answered with a 19-11 run capped by a three-pointer by sophomore point guard D'Carlo Hayes (Louisville, Ky./Male) to take a 77-76 lead with only 2:18 to play in the game.  Transylvania would then close out the game on a 9-3 run to win the game, 85-80.

Joining Feinberg in double-figure scoring for the Saints was Hayes with 14 points and senior center Colt Stafford (Groveport, Ohio/Bishop Hartley) with 11 points.  Feinberg led the team on the boards with a game-high eight rebounds and Stafford added seven, while Hayes led the team in assists with four.

Thomas More opens Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play on Wednesday (November 30) when it travels to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to play Geneva College.  The game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. inside Metheny Fieldhouse.
