Boston, Mass. – The Trinity College Bantams defeated the Framingham State University Rams, 64-38, in the opening round of the 2011 University of Massachusetts-Boston Men's Basketball Harbor Invitational. Trinity improves to 3-1 on the year, while the loss snaps the Rams three-game win streak and drops them to 3-3. Trinity will face the winner of tonight's Mass.-Boston/Wheelock game tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. in the tournament's championship game, while the Rams will face the loser in the consolation game at 1 p.m.

Leading by one (7-6) with 11:32 remaining in the first half, Trinity used an 18-9 run over the next six minutes to take control of the game and open up a double-digit lead. Trinity extended their lead to as many as 15 in the closing minutes, before taking a 32-19 lead into the locker room. Trinity extended their lead to as many as 28 in the second half to secure their third victory of the season. Trinity shot 40.7% from the floor in the game to just 32.6% for the Rams and held a 41-26 advantage on the glass. The Rams committed 28 turnovers in the game which led to 32 points for Trinity. Sophomore Eric Dean (Gilford, N.H.) had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman guard Varum Ram (Clarkville, Md.) added 11 points, five assists, and and five steals for the Bantams.
