Cal Lutheran Takes Out La Sierra in Season Opener

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Cal Lutheran men's basketball tipped off its season on Saturday night with a 69-56 road win over La Sierra. Senior Aaron Van Klaveren paced the offense with a career-high 26 points in the victory.

Van Klaveren was one rebound shy of a double-double finishing with nine boards on the night. Teammates Collin Knudsen and Michael Palmer scored 15 and12 points, respectively.

The Kingsmen avenge a loss in their previous meeting with the Golden Eagles back on Dec. 11, 2010, which snapped an 11-game win streak over LSU.

Cal Lutheran (1-0) will play a pair of games on back-to-back days during the Northwest/SCIAC Challenge in Pleasant Hill, Calif. The Kingsmen will face Whitworth on Friday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m.
